Faux pas (ˌfoʊ ˈpɑː)

The French word which is widely used in English and it literally means “false step”, an expression describing not following the etiquette. Other meanings are,

>Words or behaviour that are a social mistake or not polite
>Something embarrassing that you say or do in a social situation
>A slip or blunder in etiquette, manners, or conduct

Example

I made some remark about his family, and then realized I’d made a serious faux pas

But the more they worry about it, the more they tend to make a faux pas
