Scribe of wisdom

Prometheus myth

Prometheus, in Greek religion, one of the Titans and a supreme trickster. His intellectual side was emphasized by the apparent meaning of his name, Forethinker.

Prometheus is remembered as the one who has stolen fire and gifted to human beings as he became very fond of his own creation (Human Beings). For this reason, he earned the wrath of Zeus and got punished. He was chained on Mount Caucasus where the eagle would eat his liver forever.

Example from modern world

Xerox Corporation esablished Palo Alto Research Centre (PARC) devoted for R & D work for future. In 1979, it was visited by a group of Apple Engineers and executives led by Steve Jobs. It was on this visit that Jobs discovered the mouse, windows, icons, and other technologies that had been developed at PARC. These wonders had been locked away at PARC by a staff that didn’t understand the revolutionary potential of what they had created. Jobs, in contrast, was immediately converted this to graphical user interface (GUI), that would eventually yield the Lisa and “insanely great” Macintosh.

As a valued developer, Microsoft got a behind-the-scenes look at the development of the Macintosh project prior to its 1984 release. Bill Gates suggested Apple should license the Macintosh operating system to outside manufacturers to help establish it as the standard interface for personal computing which was not agreed by Apple.

This lead to Bill Gates’s decision to capitalize on what he saw as a great business opportunity to create a mass-market operating system. He debuted Windows on November 15, 1985.However, in some ways Windows seemed eerily close to Mac.

This lead to law suit between Apple and Microsoft which eventually got settled amicably later in the interest of both companies.

On lighter note, thus Apple and Microsoft-that band of brothers, that bunch of pirates– stole the fire of the gods, and gave it to the people..
